In 2024, Flexicar launched its new subsidiary, Flexicar Renting, within a digital-first ecosystem to support full-service renting and leasing operations. In 2024, the company launched a strategic initiative: build a full-stack embedded finance infrastructure to prepare for upcoming leasing operations and support its new full-service business line – Flexicar Renting – which operates as a subsidiary of Flexicar within a digital-first ecosystem, leveraging an extended network of independent vendors and customers.

Background

To accelerate its mobility-as-a-service model, the company set out to build an embedded finance infrastructure that could support flexible renting, leasing, and insurance products – all under one roof.

Before 2025, the company had an in-house manual lending infrastructure. Credit operations were either outsourced or managed manually, leading to fragmented user journeys, inconsistent partner integrations, and limited process automation. As demand surged, so did operational complexity, requiring better control over origination, credit decision-making, contract lifecycle, and accounting.

The goal: launch a full-service embedded finance engine seamlessly integrating third-party services, including KYC and identity scoring, vehicle inspection, credit risk evaluation, electronic signature, insurance policy management, CRM, and catalog synchronization. All while ensuring compliance, scalability, and user autonomy from day one.

Challenge

Flexicar Renting needed to design and implement a centralized and flexible solution to manage the lifecycle of rental products (origination, scoring, contract generation, partner management, service providers and all the invoices up to accounting), the integration of 10+ external systems (KYC, insurance, CRM, risk, and more), while automating financial processes and ensuring accounting integrity.

Additionally, operational agility was non-negotiable: internal users, often non-technical, needed to be onboarded quickly, and processes had to be secured against human error.

Solution

Flexicar Renting selected Basikon as its technology partner to power its embedded finance journey, for its modular, 100% API, and low-code platform.

As a digital-native solution, Basikon streamlines contract creation, deal generation, invoicing, accounting, and other key back-office processes. It supports end-to-end automation of renting products and allows seamless integration with external lead generation sources like Flexicar's website.

Basikon natively handles API flow monitoring and orchestration within the platform. This ensures reliable, secure data exchange with partners, such as:

Basikon’s low-code architecture and graphical workflow engine allowed Flexicar Renting to fully customize operational processes and business rules, embedding automatic validations at every critical step to minimize operational risk while reducing friction.

The platform’s intuitive user interface and experience were ideal for non-technical users, who could become operational quickly. Role-based workflows, pre-configured dashboards, and intuitive process interfaces enabled the team to focus on growth.

Result

The MVP project was delivered in less than 6 months, and the platform is continuously growing to follow the expansion of requirements – powering Flexicar Renting across Spain with:

• 90% reduction in human error, thanks to automated checks and embedded governance rules
• Less than one week onboarding time for new users, even without technical background, thanks to Basikon’s intuitive interface
• End-to-end integration with 10+ external systems, without middleware or ecosystem rebuild

The platform architecture now supports B2C and B2B journeys, centralized orchestration of full-service rental product lifecycles, as well as real-time credit monitoring. It provides Flexicar Renting with full control over its financing operations, while automating financial processes and ensuring end-to-end accounting integrity across all channels.
